Ligier, a prominent French automotive brand, was founded by the multi-talented Guy Ligier, a former rugby player and racing driver, in 1969. The brand initially captured attention with its entry into the sports car domain, debuting the Ligier JS1 at the Salon de l'Auto the same year it was established. The following years saw the introduction of the JS2 and JS3, continuing Ligier's tradition of producing performance-focused vehicles designed by Michel Tétu. Ligier's automotive journey took a significant turn in 1976 when it ventured into Formula One racing. This move was marked by the introduction of the Ligier JS5, thanks to the technical brilliance of Gérard Ducarouge and the driving prowess of Jacques Laffite, who secured the brand's first Grand Prix victory that year. Ligier maintained a competitive presence in Formula One until 1996, with notable successes including a win at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1996 with Olivier Panis driving the Ligier JS43. Despite withdrawing from active competition in 1992, Guy Ligier's passion for motorsports never waned. He briefly returned to the automotive scene in 2004, reviving his involvement in vehicle manufacturing, particularly focusing on cars without licenses, a segment further developed by his descendants. Today, Ligier continues to thrive under the leadership of Jacques Nicolet, who has successfully repositioned the brand within the endurance racing segment. Notable achievements include the introduction of the Ligier JS P2, a testament to Ligier's enduring legacy in motorsports innovation
