LTI TX

1997 – 2017

LTI›TX

The LTI TX is a purpose-built London taxi produced by London Taxi International, manufactured from 1997 through 2017 and succeeding the long-running FX4 as the standard hackney carriage of the British capital. The model line progressed through three distinct generations: the TX1, built from 1998 to 2002, the TX2 from 2002 to 2006, and the TX4 from 2006 onward, each iteration refining the traditional tall-roof, rear-wheel-drive formula that allows wheelchair accessibility and the tight turning circle required by the conditions of use regulations governing London cab licensing. The TX series is particularly recognized for combining a conservative, purpose-specific body design with successive improvements in powertrains and passenger comfort, maintaining the upright silhouette and wide turning radius performance that have defined London taxis for decades. The TX4 proved to be the longest-running and most widely adopted variant, finding use not only in London but in export markets including parts of the Middle East and Asia.
