Marcos Engineering, a renowned British sports car manufacturer, was established in 1959 in Dolgellau, North Wales, by Jem Marsh and Frank Costin. The company's name is a combination of the founders' surnames. Marsh, who previously worked for Speedex cars, teamed up with Costin, an experienced aerodynamicist who had contributed to the design of de Havilland Mosquito fighter-bombers. Inspired by his earlier work, Costin introduced the innovative use of plywood for the car chassis. After its inception, Marcos quickly gained recognition in the automotive industry for its unique approach to car design.
