The Mazda Persona was a mid-sized, front-wheel drive sedan manufactured by Mazda in Japan from November 1988 to December 1991. It was also marketed under the upscale Eunos brand as the Eunos 300. The Persona was essentially a rebodied version of the Capella/626, featuring more luxurious equipment. Mazda designed the Persona to compete with other Japanese sedans like the Toyota Carina ED, Nissan Presea, and Mitsubishi Emeraude, which aimed to emulate the pillarless hardtop appearance of larger American sedans. This design approach resulted in a smaller cabin situated between longer front and rear ends, creating a distinct aesthetic for the Persona.
