The Type 01 is out from under the covers. Jaguar's first all-new car in years made its debut in New York, and it is the car the whole rebrand has been building toward since the Type 00 concept split opinion in late 2024.
It is a four-seat electric grand tourer, more than five metres long, and it carries the full weight of a brand that has not built a single car since December 2025.
Close to 1,000hp and a Three-Motor Setup
The numbers are big. Three electric motors, one up front and two at the rear, combine for close to 1,000hp and 1,300Nm of torque. That is Veyron-level grunt, and 0 to 100km/h takes just over three seconds.
It rides on the new Jaguar Electric Architecture with an 850-volt system and a 120kWh battery. Claimed range is up to around 700km (435 miles), and a 350kW charger adds roughly 320km (200 miles) in under 15 minutes.
Heavy, but Built to Hide It
All that hardware weighs about 2,700kg. To mask it, Jaguar has fitted twin-chamber air suspension, adaptive dampers and rear-wheel steering. Some of the drivetrain software comes straight from its Formula E programme.

A Cabin With No Rear Window
The proportions stay loyal to the Type 00. Long bonnet, low stance, high shoulder line and a shallow glasshouse. Out back there is a proper bootlid, two horizontal light bars and no rear window at all, so a camera feeds the rear-view mirror.
Inside, a central spine splits the cabin into four individual seats under a full-length glass roof. The steering wheel runs haptic buttons, and the main screen is a small portrait unit on the spine, paired with a full-width digital cluster.
Priced Where Jaguar Has Never Played
In the UK, prices are expected to start around £120,000, with most cars landing nearer £140,000 once owners start personalising. Jaguar is aiming at the gap between the top premium brands and Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
Jaguar's bosses are open about the bet. They say buyers at this level choose on design and emotion, and the powertrain sits way down the list. That puts all the pressure on how the car looks and how the badge feels.
The Leak Before the Lights
The reveal did not go quite to plan. A photo of the finished car, in pale blue, surfaced on a spy forum the night before and spread fast. Jaguar had it pulled from at least one site within hours.
Orders Open Soon, Cars Arrive in 2027
Orders are expected to open before the end of 2026, with the first deliveries due around mid-2027. Production will run at Solihull, which is being turned into Jaguar's electric hub.
The engineering looks serious. The question is whether buyers at this price are ready to take a chance on a brand that has been off the market for close to two years. Drop your take on the Type 01 car page and see what the rest of the timeline thinks.
