Mercedes-AMG EQE 1st Gen

2022 – 2023 · GERMANY

The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class, now marketed as Mercedes-AMG SL since 2022, is a renowned grand touring sports car that has been in production since 1954. The name "SL" comes from the German term "Sport-Leicht," meaning "Sport Light" in English. The original 300 SL was initially a racing sports car developed in 1952, without any plans for a street version. However, in 1954, American importer Max Hoffman suggested creating a street version of the 300 SL to cater to wealthy performance car enthusiasts in the United States, where the demand for luxury cars was high post-World War II. This iconic car line is known for its performance, luxury, and sleek design, making it a favorite among those looking for a blend of sportiness and comfort. The new Mercedes-AMG SL, introduced in 2022, continues the legacy of the SL-Class with updated features and a focus on high-performance driving. The origin of the "SL" abbreviation has been linked to the 1931 Mercedes-Benz SSKL (Super Sport Kurz Leicht—Super Sport Short Light), although the exact connection remains uncertain. Over the years, the SL-Class has evolved into a symbol of automotive excellence, representing the pinnacle of quality and innovation in the grand touring sports car segment. With a rich history and a commitment to unparalleled driving experiences, the Mercedes-AMG SL continues to captivate enthusiasts around the world.
