Mercedes-AMG R-Class W251

2006 – 2010 · GERMANY

The Mercedes-Benz R-Class is a mid-size luxury MPV that was introduced in 2005 for the 2006 model year. The vehicle originated from the success of smaller MPVs in the A- and B-Class series. The concept for the R-Class began with the Vision GST at the 2002 Detroit Auto Show, followed by the Vision R at the 2004 Detroit Auto Show, leading to the production version's debut at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. Manufactured in Vance, Alabama until 2015, production of the R-Class was later shifted to Mishawaka, Indiana for smaller volume manufacturing until 2017. The R-Class (W251) shared its platform with the M-Class (W164) and GL-Class (X164), offering two wheelbase lengths: standard at 2,980 mm (117.3 in) and long at 3,215 mm (126.6 in). Notably, the R-Class was exclusively sold in the United States and Canada in the long-wheelbase configuration. Key Points: 1. The Mercedes-Benz R-Class was a mid-size luxury MPV launched in 2005. 2.
