Mercury Tracer 1st Gen

The Mercury Tracer was an automobile produced by Ford's Mercury division from 1987 to 1999 across three generations. It was available in different body styles, including three- and five-door hatchbacks, four-door sedans, and five-door station wagons. The first generation of the Tracer was categorized as a subcompact car, with the following two generations falling into the compact segment. All three generations of the Tracer were based on the Mazda 323/Protegé platform, sharing similarities with these Mazda models. In 1999, Mercury halted the production and sales of the Tracer. Following this decision, the Ford Escort was replaced by the Ford Focus, and Mercury withdrew from the compact car segment altogether. Although a fourth generation of the Tracer was planned for a 2012 release, it was later canceled due to the closure of the Mercury brand at the end of 2010.
