The Mercury Tracer, produced by Ford's Mercury division, was available from 1987 to 1999 in three generations. It came in various body styles including three- and five-door hatchbacks, four-door sedans, and five-door station wagons. The first generation was classified as a subcompact, while the subsequent two generations fell into the compact category. All three generations were based on the Mazda 323/Protegé platform.
