Its name is a combination of "proud" and "diamond," reflecting the company's logo. The first generation was manufactured between 1999 and 2001, with a second generation (based on the Nissan Fuga) produced from 2012 to 2016. Developed by Mitsubishi Motors and co-manufactured with Hyundai, the Proudia's South Korean counterpart was sold as the Hyundai Equus from 1999 to 2009.
