The Mitsubishi Sapporo has been featured in two iterations based on the Mitsubishi Galant. The first generation, produced from 1978 to 1984, was a rear-wheel drive hardtop coupé that shared a platform with the third generation Galant. Known as the "Mitsubishi Galant Lambda" in Japan, it was marketed as the "Sapporo" in Europe and South America. In the US, the same model was offered as the Dodge Challenger and Plymouth Sapporo. A significant facelift was implemented in 1980 to update the design. The second iteration of the Sapporo was available from 1987 to 1990.
