Known as the Austin Marina, Leyland Marina, and Morris 1700 in various markets, this car gained popularity in Britain during its production years, even outselling its main competitor, the Ford Escort, in 1973 to secure the second spot in UK car sales. Despite mostly ranking below the Escort in other years, the Marina was a consistent contender in the small family car segment.
