Moskvitch, known as Moskvich in Russian, is a historic Soviet and Russian automobile brand that was first produced by AZLK from 1946 to 1991. The brand later came under the ownership of OAO Moskvitch from 1991 to 2001. After a hiatus, production of Moskvitch vehicles resumed in 2022. OAO Moskvitch was a privatized venture established to manage the former factory post the dissolution of the Soviet Union to prevent legal complications. While the factory did not have any assembly branches outside of Russia after 1991, the name OAO Moskvitch remains associated with the factory complex situated in the lower eastern part of Moscow. The term "Moskvich" translates to
