Moskvitch, also written as Moskvich, Moskvič, or Moskwitsch in various languages, is a Soviet and Russian automobile brand with a production history spanning from 1946 to 2001, before resuming production in 2022. Initially manufactured by AZLK until 1991, the production reigns were later taken over by OAO Moskvitch until 2001. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, OAO Moskvitch emerged as a privatized entity to oversee the operations, thus serving as the name for the factory site situated in Moscow post-1991. The term "moskvich" itself carries the meaning of "a native of Moscow" in Russian, further embedding the brand
