MPM Motors

MPM Motors, a French automotive venture, was established in 2015 by brothers Oleg and Igor Paramonov, descendants of industrialist Mikhaïl Paramonov. The company set out to continue the legacy of their father by creating affordable, innovative cars under the banner of Mikhaïl Paramonov Manufacturing (MPM). Their journey in the automobile industry began with the development of the MPM Erelis, originally designated as the PS160. This model was a rebirth of the Aquila, a project initially started in South Korea and later moved to Russia, but which faltered due to the collapse of its parent company, TagAZ. The MPM Erelis, which means 'eagle' in Lithuanian, was a coupé modified to include a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine from PSA, producing 130 hp, reflecting the company's vision to provide sporty yet accessible vehicles. MPM Motors made its mark by launching this model at 'Les Grandes Heures Automobiles' in 2018, showcasing its commitment to combining performance with affordability. However, despite a promising start, MPM Motors faced significant financial challenges, leading to its bankruptcy in December 2020. The closure marked a swift and unfortunate end to a company that had aimed to redefine the low-cost sports car market. The legacy of MPM Motors, particularly the Erelis, remains a testament to the fleeting yet impactful nature of innovation in the competitive automotive landscape.
