The Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser is a station wagon that was produced by Oldsmobile over three generations from 1964 to 1977. The first and second generations of the Vista Cruiser are known for their distinctive features, including fixed-glass, roof-mounted skylights over the second-row seating with sun visors for passengers, a raised roof behind the skylight, lateral glass panels over the rear cargo area, and access to the third row of passenger seating through a retractable second-row split bench seat. Introduced on February 4, 1964, as a 1964 model, the Vista Cruiser shared its bodystyle with the Buick Sport Wagon, Pontiac Tempest Safari, and Chevrolet Chevelle Greenbrier. It was based on the Oldsmobile Cutlass/F-85 Series. The skylight roof panel was a unique feature shared only with the Buick Sport Wagon and was not available on the Chevrolet Chevelle or Pontiac Tempest station wagons. Before the 1973 model year, the Vista Cruiser had a longer wheelbase than the Cutlass/F-85 sedan by 5 inches (127 mm), providing extra space and comfort. The Vista Cruiser stands out for its innovative design elements and spacious interior, making it a popular choice among families looking for a versatile and stylish station wagon during the 1960s and 1970s.
