1995 – 1998 · Japan

The fourth generation of the Subaru Legacy, introduced in 2003, marked a significant redesign of the model on a brand-new platform. Development for this generation began in early 1999, reaching a milestone with the styling freeze in 2001 and final engineering sign-off in 2003. The "Blitzen" model continued to be offered exclusively in Japan, while the all-new Legacy B4 sedan made its debut with the tagline "Blood type: B4." The advertising campaign featured a remixed version of "Gymnopédie No. 1" by Erik Satie, adding to the model's allure.
