The Ruxton, an innovative yet short-lived automobile, was birthed in 1929 by New Era Motors under the collaborative genius of Archie M. Andrews and engineer William Muller. Unlike other cars of the era, the Ruxton was notable for its pioneering front-wheel drive and a notably low profile achieved by eliminating the traditional driveshaft and running boards. This design choice made it about ten inches lower than its competitors. Despite its forward-thinking engineering, the Ruxton's life was brief. Production issues and financial troubles overwhelmed New Era Motors, leading to the brand's cessation in 1931 after producing only about 96 vehicles. Today, the Ruxton remains a rare classic, celebrated for its unique contributions to automotive design but also as a symbol of ambition that, unfortunately, couldn't navigate the economic challenges of its time.
