SsangYong

Founded in 1954, SsangYong Motor Company has carved out a distinct niche in the automotive industry. Originally set up as Ha Dong-hwan Motor Workshop, this South Korean manufacturer made a significant pivot from building jeeps for the US Army to producing a range of robust SUVs and trucks. Notably, their journey through the automotive terrain has been marked by a commitment to rugged, innovative vehicles tailored for both domestic and international markets. The brand's first major commercial vehicle, the Korando, launched in the 1980s, still holds an iconic status, embodying SsangYong’s ethos of durability and performance. Over the decades, SsangYong has continued to innovate, not without its fair share of financial hurdles, including filing for bankruptcy in late 2020. Nevertheless, their resilience is evident in their recent strides in the electric vehicle market, aiming to reinvent themselves in a rapidly evolving sector. With the recent launch of models like the Korando e-Motion, SsangYong is steering towards a future that promises a blend of their traditional robust engineering with cutting-edge green technology, marking their footprint in the competitive realm of sustainable mobility.
