Star

The Star Motor Company, an illustrious name in the annals of automotive history, traces its roots back to the early 20th century. Founded in Wolverhampton, England, by Edward Lisle, the company emerged from the engineering firm Sharratt & Lisle, making its mark initially with the production of bicycles. The transition to automotive manufacturing marked a new chapter for Star, with their first car, the 7hp, debuting in 1898. This vehicle set the stage for a series of innovations that would secure the brand's reputation for quality and reliability. Throughout the early 1900s, Star was synonymous with luxury, rivalling even the likes of contemporary Rolls-Royce models. The brand was known for its meticulous craftsmanship and elegant designs, which catered to an elite clientele. However, the economic pressures of the 1930s and subsequent market changes led to a gradual decline, culminating in the cessation of car production by the mid-20th century. Today, the legacy of Star Motor Company lives on through classic car enthusiasts and collectors. While the company no longer produces vehicles, its historical impact on the luxury car market continues to be celebrated at automotive shows and in historical retrospectives, highlighting a proud, albeit concluded chapter in British automotive history.
