The Suzuki Kei was a kei car manufactured by Suzuki from 1998 to 2009 in Japan. Initially launched as a three-door hatchback, a five-door variant was introduced in the latter part of 1999. The model underwent a refresh in late 2000, which saw the discontinuation of the three-door model. Another facelift was implemented in 2001, featuring an updated dashboard design. During the period from 1999 to 2006, Suzuki also collaborated with Mazda to produce the Mazda Laputa, which essentially served as a rebadged version of the Suzuki Kei for the Mazda brand. The partnership between Suzuki and Mazda brought forth the Laputa as an alternative option in the kei car segment
