Toyota Cresta X70

1984 – 1988 · Japan

The Toyota Cresta, introduced in 1980, was a mid-size luxury car from Toyota that shared the chassis with the Mark II/Cressida and Chaser models. It was positioned as the top-level offering at Japanese Toyota Vista Store dealerships. The Cresta went through five generations during its production run until 2001 when it was replaced by the Verossa, a short-lived model created through a merger with the Chaser. The Cresta aimed to provide a more luxurious option compared to the Mark II, while the Chaser was marketed as the performance-oriented variant of the same platform but sold through different dealerships. Throughout its evolution, the Cresta gained a reputation for luxury, partly due to its increasing engine displacements across different series and generations. Key points: 1.
