Toyota Estima XR30

2000 – 2006

The Toyota Previa, known as the Toyota Estima in Japan and Toyota Tarago in Australia, is a minivan produced by Toyota from 1990 to October 2019 over three generations. The name "Previa" derives from the Spanish word for "preview," reflecting Toyota's intention for the vehicle to showcase future minivan technologies. Positioned as the second-largest minivan in Toyota's Japanese lineup after the Alphard/Vellfire, the Previa aimed to offer innovation and practicality to consumers. The first generation, introduced in January 1990, was designed by Toyota's Tokuo Fukuichi and Calty's David Doyle. It featured a unique mid-engined platform with a flat-lying inline-four cylinder gasoline engine positioned beneath the front seats. Notably, this generation had only one sliding side door for the rear passengers, setting it apart from conventional minivan designs. Key Points: 1.
