The Toyota Previa, known as the Toyota Estima in Japan and Toyota Tarago in Australia, is a minivan produced by Toyota from 1990 to 2019 across three generations. The name "Previa" originates from the Spanish word for "preview," as Toyota aimed for the first Previa to showcase future minivan technologies. In Japan, the Previa was the second-largest minivan in Toyota's lineup, following the larger and more luxurious Alphard/Vellfire. The first generation, introduced in 1990, was designed by Toyota designer Tokuo Fukuichi and Calty designer David Doyle. It featured a unique mid-engined platform, with the inline-four cylinder gasoline engine installed almost flat beneath the front seats
