The Toyota Harrier is a popular compact to mid-size crossover SUV with a rich history dating back to its launch in Japan in December 1997. Initially sold exclusively at Toyopet Store dealerships in Japan, the Harrier was later rebadged for export markets as the Lexus RX from March 1998 to December 2008. Notably, Lexus had not yet been introduced to the Japanese market at that time. The second generation of the Harrier, known as the XU30 model, was introduced in February 2003 alongside the export version, the Lexus RX. While the third generation of the Lexus RX was launched separately in late 2008, the Harrier continued to be offered in its second-generation form without significant changes.
