The Toyota Harrier is a popular compact to mid-size crossover SUV that has been in production since December 1997 in Japan. Initially sold exclusively through Toyopet Store dealerships in Japan, the Harrier made its way into export markets as the Lexus RX from March 1998 to December 2008. This marked a significant expansion for Toyota as they had not yet introduced the Lexus brand to their Japanese customers at that time. The second generation of the Harrier, known as XU30, was introduced in February 2003, coinciding with the launch of the export Lexus version.
