The Toyota Harrier is a compact to mid-size crossover SUV that has been in production by Toyota since December 1997. Initially, it was exclusively available at Toyopet Store Japanese dealerships, but in export markets, it was sold under the Lexus RX nameplate from March 1998 to December 2008. During this period, Lexus was not yet sold in Japan. The second generation of the Toyota Harrier, known as XU30, was introduced in February 2003 concurrently with the export version under the Lexus brand. However, the third generation RX and Harrier were separated in late 2008. The Harrier continued in its second-generation form without any significant changes.
