The Vauxhall Astra is a compact car/small family car (C-segment) that has been in production since 1980. Initially serving as the right-hand drive version of the Opel Kadett in the UK, the Astra has evolved through eight generations. While manufactured at various GM/Opel/Stellantis plants across Europe, most Astra models are produced at Vauxhall's plant in Ellesmere Port, England. In 1991, Opel started utilizing the Astra nameplate on its B/C-platform vehicles. Additionally, General Motors' Saturn division in the United States offered a Belgian-built version of the Astra from late 2007 until the discontinuation of Saturn in 2010 following GM's bankruptcy
