The M2 Competition, introduced for 2018, replaced the base car's N55 engine with the S55 unit sourced from the F80 M3 and F82 M4, raising output to 410 hp and substantially improving throttle response and high-rpm character. It was offered with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT, retained rear-wheel drive, and brought revised suspension geometry along with M3/M4-derived front subframe components.
