The SS, or Super Sport, was the performance flagship of the 1966 first-generation Chevelle range, using the 6.5-liter V8 with 360 hp and 570 Nm in an open cabriolet body with a manual transmission. It posted a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds, making it quicker off the line than the automatic Powerglide cabriolet of the same year despite sharing the same engine output figures.
