The De Tomaso Pantera, meaning "Panther" in Italian, was a mid-engine sports car that was manufactured by the Italian company De Tomaso from 1971 to 1992. It became the most popular model produced by the automaker, with a total of over 7,000 units built during its twenty-year production span. The majority of Panteras were sold through American Lincoln-Mercury dealers between 1972 and 1975, with more than three quarters of the production distributed in this manner. Following the conclusion of this sales agreement, De Tomaso continued to manufacture the car in decreasing numbers until the early 1990s.
