The Saturn L series, which included sedans and station wagons, was manufactured by the Saturn Corporation in Wilmington, Delaware. Despite being well-received for its design and features, the L series faced challenges in sales, leading General Motors (GM) to discontinue the line for the 2005 model year. Production of the first L series car began in May 1999, culminating in the assembly of the final car on June 17, 2004, including a short run of 2005 models. Throughout its production span, approximately 406,300 L-series cars were manufactured at the Wilmington facility.
