Big Sur, Highway 1

Name: Big Sur, Highway 1
Address: Big Sur, California, USA

By @drivesomeimages · Big Sur, California, USA · Driving road

Highway 1 through Big Sur runs along the edge of the Santa Lucia Mountains where they drop straight into the Pacific. From Carmel it crosses Bixby Creek Bridge, winds through redwood canyons and then hugs the cliffs for mile after mile of coastline. This is a road to take slowly. The turnouts are there for the view, and for letting faster traffic past. Sections close after landslides, so check the state road conditions before you set off.
