The Audi Q7 has been a benchmark large premium SUV since 2005. Twenty-one years later, the third generation arrives with a sharper face, a smarter cabin, and a powertrain that deserves real attention.
A Diesel That Thinks It's Electric
Under the bonnet sits a 3.0-litre V6 TDI in two states of tune: 245 PS with 500 Nm, or 299 PS with a substantial 630 Nm. Both use MHEV plus technology, which pairs the combustion engine with an electric-powered compressor and a powertrain generator that adds up to 18 kW of support on demand.
That compressor spins to 90,000 rpm in 250 milliseconds. The result is torque delivery that feels uncannily close to an EV off the line, with none of the range anxiety.
Lights That Do More Than Light Up
The new Q7 pushes lighting further than any production SUV has before. Digital Matrix LED headlights with micro-LED modules can project lane guidance information directly onto the road surface. A world-first ground-projected turn signal casts a dynamic arrow onto the ground at night, synced to the indicator at the front and rear.
Open a door and a white rhombus unfurls on the ground beneath it. It looks cool, and it doubles as an exit warning that actively detects approaching cyclists and stops the door if needed.
Seven Seats, Zero Compromise
The interior offers five, six, or seven seat configurations, with all seats electrically adjustable as standard. Boot space in the five-seater hits 806 litres, expanding to 2,075 litres with the second row folded.
The panoramic sunroof is a genuine highlight this generation. It switches between transparent and opaque across nine individual zones, kills the need for a separate blind, and blocks over 99.5 percent of UV radiation.
Bang and Olufsen Goes 4D
The optional B&O audio system now adds seat actuators to the headrest speakers, delivering physical vibration in sync with the music. Twenty-two speakers, 1,360 watts, and bass you feel in your spine. Whether you want that or not, the option is there.
Ordering opens in June 2026, with first deliveries arriving in September.
