Baojun

Baojun, a Chinese automobile brand established in 2010 by SAIC-GM-Wuling, started as a collaborative effort to deliver budget-friendly vehicles for the burgeoning Chinese market. From its inception, Baojun aimed to compete with other cost-effective local brands by offering the Baojun 630, its first model, as an affordable compact sedan priced around $7,000. The company quickly expanded its lineup to include SUVs and MPVs, like the Baojun 560 and 730, which helped bolster its market presence. The brand saw rapid growth, peaking at over one million sales by 2017. However, recent years have brought challenges, with a significant drop in demand for combustion engine models. In response, Baojun has pivoted towards electric vehicles, discontinuing less successful models and introducing new ones, like the Baojun KiWi EV and the Yep crossover, reflecting a shift towards more stylish and higher-tech offerings. Today, Baojun is navigating through the competitive automotive landscape by focusing on electric vehicles and innovative designs, aiming to redefine its position in the market amid shifting consumer preferences
