Erich Bitter Automobil GmbH (Bitter) is a prestigious sports-luxury car brand established by Erich Bitter, a former racing driver turned automotive tuner, importer, and designer. The company originated in Germany before moving its production to Austria. After unsuccessful business ventures with the Italian manufacturer Intermeccanica, Bitter ventured into building his own vehicles. Bitter gained recognition for specializing in rebodying existing vehicles from other manufacturers. The manufacturer's initial production phase spanned between 1973 and 1989, during which it marketed its automobiles in both Europe and the United States.
