The Buick Electra was a full-size luxury car produced by Buick from 1959 to 1990, spanning six generations as the flagship sedan line. Initially replacing the Roadmaster lines, the Electra was available as a two-door sedan, convertible, four-door sedan, and station wagon. The Electra started on GM's rear-drive C Platform and underwent a significant downsizing in 1977, bringing changes to its design and performance. The sixth generation, debuting in 1985, marked another substantial downsizing and shift to unibody construction, with the adoption of GM's front-wheel-drive C Platform. This generation, alongside its rebadged counterparts like the Oldsmobile 98 and Cadillac Deville and Fleetwood, represented GM's first full-size, unibody, transverse engine, front-drive vehicles.
