The BYD Qin is a series of compact and mid-size sedans manufactured by BYD Auto, with production starting in 2012. Initially introduced in the Chinese market in August 2012, the Qin was the plug-in hybrid version of the BYD Surui. The vehicle is named after the Qin dynasty and has since evolved to be available in various versions, including plug-in hybrid (PHEV), battery electric vehicle (BEV), and previously an internal combustion engine (ICE) model. Serving as the successor to the BYD F3DM, the Qin took over from the F3DM, which was recognized as the world's first mass-produced PHEV car when it was launched in China in 2008.
