Chatenet

Automobiles Chatenet, a distinguished name in the French microcar industry, was established in 1984 by Louis-Georges Chatenet. The company, headquartered in Pierre-Buffière, Haute-Vienne, specializes in the production of microcars, which are particularly popular due to their compact size and efficiency in urban environments. Chatenet's rise to prominence was marked by the introduction of the CH26 model in 2008, a vehicle that became a flagship due to its innovative design and practicality. This model epitomizes the brand's commitment to providing high-quality, license-exempt vehicles—a boon for urban dwellers seeking mobility solutions without the requirements of a standard driver's license. Over the years, Chatenet has not only focused on enhancing the aesthetic and functional aspects of their cars but also on safety, achieving a notable milestone in 2016 as the first microcar manufacturer to earn a two-star EuroNCAP rating, highlighting their commitment to passenger safety. In recent years, adjustments to regulatory standards regarding vehicle dimensions have challenged Chatenet, leading to the discontinuation of the CH26. However, the brand responded by developing the CH40, a model adapted to meet new regulations, thus continuing its legacy of innovation and adaptation in the face of evolving automotive standards. Today, Chatenet remains a significant player in the microcar market, consistently introducing models like the CH46 that cater to contemporary consumer needs while maintaining safety and style.
