The Chevrolet Cobalt, introduced in 2004 for the 2005 model year, replaced the Cavalier and the Geo/Chevrolet Prizm as Chevrolet's compact car. Offered as a coupe and sedan, the model also featured a sport compact version known as the Cobalt SS. It was developed on the GM Delta platform, shared with other models like the Chevrolet HHR and the Saturn ION. For the 2007–2009 model years, a Pontiac version of the Cobalt was sold in the United States and Mexico under the name Pontiac G5. In Mexico, it was marketed as the Pontiac G4 in 2005–2006 and as the Pontiac G5 in Canada for its entire production run, previously being known as the Pontiac Pursuit and later Pontiac G5 Pursuit.
