Derways Automobile Company was a pioneering Russian automaker established in 2003 in Cherkessk, Karachay-Cherkessia. As the first private car manufacturer in Russia, it was a significant player in the country's automotive industry. Operating under the Russian Mercury Group, Derways embarked on a joint venture with Chinese companies Lifan Group and Liaoning SG Automotive Group Co., Ltd. in June 2007 to produce 100,000 units tailored for the local market. In 2009, Derways expanded its operations by inaugurating a second manufacturing plant, signaling its commitment to growth and development. The company played a crucial role in the region's economy by employing around 3,000 workers, providing employment opportunities and contributing to
