The Eagle Summit, a line of subcompact cars, was jointly produced by Mitsubishi and marketed by Eagle from 1989 to 1996. This model was part of the Jeep-Eagle division established by Chrysler Corporation after its acquisition of American Motors Corporation in 1987. The Eagle Summit was a result of the successful all-wheel-drive AMC Eagle introduced in 1980, from which the use of the Eagle model name originated. Following Chrysler's acquisition of AMC, the original Eagle line and AMC brand were discontinued in 1988, making way for a new lineup described as "badge-engineered products" aimed at competing with popular imports. The Eagle Summit was introduced alongside the Dodge Colt and Plymouth Colt in 1989, as Chrysler phased out the
