Ford Escort Mark IV

1986 – 1995 · USA

The Ford Escort, a popular small family car manufactured by Ford of Europe, was produced from 1968 to 2000, spanning six generations on three key platforms: the rear-wheel-drive Mk.1/Mk.2, the front-wheel-drive "Erika" Mk.3/Mk.4, and the final CE-14 Mk.5/Mk.6 version. Its legacy came to an end gradually, with the final generation phased out over time to make way for the Ford Focus, which was introduced in 1998. The panel van production of the Escort also ceased in 2002, paving the way for the Ford Transit Connect. The Ford Escort held significant popularity in Britain, particularly throughout the 1980s and 1990s, where it was a consistent best-seller. Over 4.1 million Escorts were sold in Britain alone across all generations during its 33-year production run. Key Points: 1.
