Geely

Founded in 1986 by Li Shufu in Zhejiang, China, Geely began its journey as a refrigerator maker before shifting gears to the automotive industry in 1997. This pivot marked the beginning of what would become a significant player in the global car market. Geely's initial foray into automobiles was marked by the production of the HQ—a compact car inspired by the Mercedes-Benz 190E but distinctly tailored for the Chinese market. This model laid the foundation for Geely's reputation as a brand capable of delivering affordable transportation solutions. Over the years, Geely has expanded its reach dramatically, both in technology and market presence. A landmark moment came in 2010 when Geely acquired Volvo Cars from Ford Motor Company, a move that significantly boosted its technology and design capabilities. Today, Geely stands as a key figure in the automotive industry, noted for its rapid growth and commitment to innovation. The company has made significant strides in electric vehicle technology and smart connectivity, positioning itself strongly in both the Chinese and international markets. Geely's journey from a local carmaker to a formidable global automotive force underscores its ongoing commitment to growth and technological advancement.
