The Honda CR-X, also known as the Honda CRX in some markets, was a front-wheel-drive sport compact car manufactured by Honda from 1983 to 1991, with approximately 400,000 units produced during its production run. Initially launched as the Honda Ballade Sports CR-X in Japan, the first-generation CRX was marketed as the Honda Civic CRX in some regions outside of Japan. The CR-X stands for "Civic Renaissance Experimental," although the meaning of the initials has been subject to various interpretations. In the United States, the CRX was positioned as an economy sport Kammback, offering seating for two passengers, while the Japanese and European versions featured a 2+2 seating arrangement.
