Hongqi

Hongqi, the venerable marque from China’s FAW Group, has a rich history as the nation’s premier luxury and state vehicle provider. Established in 1958, it holds the distinction of being China's oldest passenger car brand. The first Hongqi model, the CA72, was introduced in 1959, designed to embody a blend of Eastern artistic sensibilities with the latest automotive technologies of the time. This model set the tone for the brand, which was initially exclusive to high-ranking government officials and diplomatic duties. Throughout the decades, Hongqi experienced various phases of production halts and revivals. In recent years, particularly from 2018 onwards, the brand has undergone a significant transformation marked by rapid growth. By 2021, Hongqi's sales skyrocketed, showcasing an impressive lineup of models including luxury sedans like the H9 and state-of-the-art electric vehicles such as the E-HS9. Today, Hongqi continues to expand its influence globally, pushing into new markets with a clear focus on new energy vehicles as part of its ambitious global strategy. Despite the challenges of reinventing itself in a competitive luxury car market, Hongqi remains a symbol of prestige and innovation in China, steadfast in its mission to blend luxury with the latest automotive technology.
