The Hummer H1 is a robust full-size four-wheel-drive utility vehicle originally based on the military M998 Humvee. Developed by AM General during its time under American Motors Corporation (AMC), the H1 was initially engineered for military purposes before its introduction to the civilian market. Production of the civilian version spanned from 1992 to 2006, marking the inception of the popular Hummer line. Manufacturing of both the H1 and the Humvee took place at AM General's facility in Mishawaka, Indiana. General Motors ceased production and marketing of the H1 in 2006; however, AM General sustained manufacturing of the military Humvee variants until 2018. The H1 offered consumers a rugged off
