The Hyundai Genesis Coupe, released in October 2008 for the Korean market and in the United States in February 2009, marked Hyundai's entry into the rear-wheel drive sports coupe segment. Sharing a platform with the Genesis luxury sedan, this model aimed to offer a thrilling driving experience comparable to the Infiniti G37. The anticipation for the Genesis Coupe was evident even before its launch, with camouflaged prototypes circulating online as early as May 2007. While the Genesis Coupe found success as a Hyundai model, the development of Genesis Motors as a standalone luxury brand led to its discontinuation in 2016.
