It marked Hyundai's entry into the sports coupe segment and shares its platform with the luxurious Genesis sedan. Introduced to the US market on February 26, 2009, as a 2010 model, the Genesis Coupe aimed to challenge competitors like the Infiniti G37 in terms of driving experience and performance. The car garnered early attention with camouflaged prototype images surfacing online as early as May 2007, which fueled excitement and speculation among enthusiasts. Despite the launch of Genesis Motors as its standalone luxury brand, the Hyundai Genesis Coupe continued under the Hyundai badge and was eventually discontinued in 2016
