The Jeep Comanche (designated MJ) was a pickup truck variant of the Cherokee compact SUV manufactured by Jeep from 1986 to 1992. It was offered in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) models, with options for six-foot and seven-foot cargo bed lengths. The introduction of the Comanche was a strategic move by AMC and Chrysler to cater to the growing demand for compact pickups in the mid-1980s, as consumers were turning to trucks as a more practical alternative to cars. AMC, facing financial difficulties at the time, aimed to capitalize on the success of its Jeep lineup by adding a compact pickup truck to its offerings. The Jeep Comanche was launched in August 1985
